Root password doesn't currently work, I already reset it.

I have never used any variant / original of freebsd. I can't get my root password to work. I followed the recommended setup steps and I also reset the password in single user mode. I have used Debian style operating systems in the past.

I would appreciate the help.

I think its the way I added my user to the "wheel" during the setup.

Yes that did the trick. You mustn't leave it as default, but type in the word wheel at the proper question while adding a user (at setup).
