Re: Default web browser failure
Well, I ran some tests on the HD, and it is just fine. A little more info: the problem with Firefox refusing to start is caused when a package I install also updates Firefox from the version 70 which comes with FuryBSD to version 72. For instance, when I run "pkg install hplip", one of the dependenc...

Default web browser failure
For some reason, I am now getting the error message "Failed to execute default web browser. Input/output error." This appeared after I had attempted to install Mahjong from the /usr/ports/games/mahjong directory. The error message persists even after I deinstalled mahjong. Can anyone explain this an...

Logging in to the desktop as root
Excuse me, but how in the heck do you do this? At the login prompt, I click on "other" then use root as my user name, and give it the correct password for root on my system, but it returns "incorrect password".
So how does one fix this?

When I first began the installation, the touch-pad worked as it should, but after finishing the installation, I had to plug a USB mouse into a USB port in order to have a working mouse. It seems to me as though whatever tou...

Re: Before I Try FuryBSD
Fury gives you a choice of either OSS or some sort of more direct audio access. I cannot remember for certain that that is at this point. I did NOT use OSS for my application, Fldigi. My recommendation is to try Fury on some non-critical computer and experiment with it. Although my needs are less "c...

Re: Boot failing.
Hello: My solution MAY not help you, but here is what I had to do: I wrote the ISO to a memstick with Rufus (I used the portable version). When I booted to FuryBSD on an older Acer laptop, it ran fine, much to my surprise. Due to the touch-pad not being "fixed", I had to first plug a USB mouse into ...
